Majid Michel is a Ghanaian actor, model, television personality, evangelist and a humanitarian. He received nominations for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2017. He eventually won the award in 2012 after three previous consecutive nominations.

Is Majid Michel a Ghanaian?

Michel was born in Cantonments, a suburb of the Ghanaian capital Accra. He is the son of a Lebanese father and a Ghanaian mother, he grew up in Accra with his nine siblings.

The 41-year-old who is presently one of the most influential Ghanaian actor is legally married to Virna Michel blessed with four beautiful daughters.

However, during an interview on Okay FM, the actor disclosed how he was swiftly arrested by the officials of the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) after advocating for the legalisation of weed in the country and how he got involved.

Majid Michel said; “I’ve done drugs before. I’ve indulged in drugs before. I’ve done hard drugs. I don’t mean weed. I don’t see anything wrong with weed, it was God-made. It was created by God,” he said.

I’ve never heard of anybody who has overdosed on weed… I’ve done things out of weed. I’ve done cocaine and LSD (Lysergic acid diethylamide) I’ve done other drugs that if I told you right now, you’ll not be able to pronounce. These were years back and I didn’t struggle to overcome it,” he added.

According to him, after saying this on live radio, he was arrested by some personnel of the board after which his house was thoroughly searched.

But NACOB officers found nothing to implicate him, Majid said he was advised by the officers on how to conduct himself publicly concerning issues like this.

Indeed, I think it’s a great lesson for all of us when speaking publicly.
