The Deputy Minister of Education, John Ntim Fordjour on Okay FM announced on Thursday, 13th January 2022 that, the double-track system used to contain enrolment in various public Senior High Schools amid Free SHS have been suspended for the 2022 academic year.

However, the PRO of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Kwasi Kwarteng in a post on his Facebook page said Double Track is not suspended. This has brought confusion as to whether SHS will run the double track or its suspended.

John Ntim the Deputy Minister of Education said “Schools without enough facilities to absorb the current system will have only one batch to be on vacation. ie. If first years are on vacation, you still have second and final year students still in school.”

The Assin South Member of Parliament, John Ntim indicated the central Government’s decision to abolish the double-track system follows prudent and strategic planning in the construction of educational infrastructure in schools across the country.

The PRO of the Ministry of Education, Kwasi Kwarteng posted on Friday, January 14th 2022.

“Double Track is not completely abolished. We have eliminated double entry of Form One and Form Two students.

What it means is that all Form One and Form Two students will go to school each as one cohort not divided into two. As more school buildings are completed entire school populations will report to school at the same time as one cohort as it pertains in Single Track schools.”

We are yet to see if both the Deputy Minister of Education and the PRO for Ministry of Education will come into agreement.
